About JRun
JRun has no social feed, advertising, or shopping. Your run records stay on your own device, keeping the app quiet, direct, and focused on running.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why was my run not saved?
To avoid accidental or invalid records, JRun filters clearly invalid runs, including:
- Distance shorter than 300 meters
- Active duration shorter than 2 minutes
- Average speed far above normal running speed
- Fewer than 3 valid location points
Can JRun recover a run after the app closes unexpectedly?
During an active run, JRun writes a local checkpoint on the device. If the app crashes, the system terminates the app, or the phone loses power, the next launch may offer to save the last valid checkpoint as a partial run record or discard it.
Recovery is limited to the last checkpoint that was successfully written. JRun does not invent time, distance, or route data after that point.
Why is my route not exactly on the road?
Routes come from iPhone location data. Buildings, trees, tunnels, weak signals, and location fluctuations can cause the route to drift slightly from the actual road.
JRun 1.2 keeps the original location track and does not provide road snapping or map matching.
Can JRun record while the screen is locked or the app is in the background?
Yes. During an active run, JRun can continue recording route and motion data when location permission allows it.
Why are steps, cadence, or stride missing?
These fields depend on iPhone Motion & Fitness data. If permission is denied or the device does not provide enough data, some step-related metrics may be unavailable.
Will my data sync automatically when I change phones?
No. JRun uses local storage and does not provide cloud sync. Before deleting the app, clearing local data, or changing devices, export a complete .jrunbackup file from the Me page and save it somewhere you control. After installing JRun on the new device, select that file to merge its supported data.
Does a weather request failure affect run recording?
No. JRun uses Open-Meteo for current weather and tries MET Norway as a fallback when Open-Meteo is unavailable. You can still start, finish, and save a run if both weather services are unavailable.
